Father’s blast at festival chiefs

-

The father of a young man who died after collapsing at a music festival has criticised organisers for failing to ‘say sorry’ to the families of the victims.

Tommy Cowan, 20, was found seriously ill shortly after Georgia Jones, 18, collapsed at Saturday’s Mutiny Festival in Portsmouth. Both revellers from havant, hampshire, died in hospital and the festival was called off.

Road maintenance worker Mr Cowan’s father Damiane described holding his dying son’s hand in hospital and urged others considering taking drugs to learn from the untimely death.

he added: ‘I’m frustrated at the organisers of the festival – no-one has contacted me to say “I’m sorry”. ‘You’d expect them to do that.’ Mr Cowan, a father- of- one, who was named in earlier reports as Tommy George Bakeer, was among 15 revellers – including one still in a critical condition – taken to hospital from the event as organisers issued a warning of a ‘high strength or bad batch’ of drugs.

Police yesterday arrested three men – all from hampshire – on suspicion of dealing Class A drugs.
