UK ‘could slide into Russia war’
BRITAIN and Russia could end up fighting a catastrophic war ‘by accident’, the former British commander of Nato warned yesterday.
General Sir Adrian Bradshaw said there could be global military conflict if Russia launched a major cyber attack against the West or if president Vladimir Putin felt threatened domestically and took ‘a risk on something that would slide into conflict’.
In a speech at Hay, the former deputy supreme allied commander of Nato said: ‘I don’t think anybody actually believes Russia wants a conflict with Nato. The problem is we could slide into such a situation through a series of escalating problems and find ourselves getting there by accident.’
