Drug charges for 10 at Kelso
TEN racegoers aged between 18 and 51 have been charged with possessing drugs at Kelso’s Ladies day meeting on Sunday. Police officers searched 34 people with eight seizures of suspected cocaine and two of cannabis. Three discarded packets of cocaine were also found in the Kelso car park. A Sportsmail investigation this month highlighted the problem of recreational drug use on British racecourses when it found traces of cocaine at Newbury and York racecourses. But there will be shock at the drug haul at a lowprofile track like Kelso. Jonathan Garratt, managing director of Kelso, said: ‘We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our visitors, which means that we will continue to work closely with the local police to reduce potential for anti-social behaviour.’
