Bale’s Liverpool sit-in

- By CRAIG HOPE

GARETH BALE spent around 20 minutes in the Liverpool dressing room after the Champions League final rather than with his Real Madrid team-mates. Bale’s behaviour serves to highlight his frustration with life at the Spanish club and an apparent desire to return to the Premier League, where Manchester United would be his most likely destination. The two-goal hero went to see the likes of Adam Lallana, with whom he played at Southampton, after last Saturday’s 3-1 win in Kiev. Bale, 28, was angry and felt humiliated when he was dropped by Zinedine Zidane for the final, despite having scored five times in his previous four league appearances. He came on after an hour and within three minutes had scored a stunning bicycle kick before hitting a long-range shot that Loris Karius palmed into his net late in the game. Afterwards he gave an interview in which he warned the Real hierarchy that he might quit the club if promises are not made over his game time before next season.
