Poldark star: I don’t mind being lusted after

- By Susie Coen TV and Radio Reporter

EVER since that scene of him scything topless in the first series, Poldark fans have been desperate for another glimpse of Aidan turner’s toned torso.

And it seems the fourth series, which starts on Sunday, June 10, won’t disappoint them — the very first shot shows the heart-throb emerging from the sea shirtless.

In a scene certain to get pulses racing, turner’s rugged chest can be seen glinting in the Cornish sunshine as he wears just a pair of beige breeches for his dip in the sea.

the 34-year- old actor’s muscular body propelled him to fame when he first took on the role of Ross Poldark, with hordes of women switching on the BBC1 drama to ogle his physique. And when asked if he minds people objectifying him, he said: ‘No I don’t at all, go for it.’

he says it’s not just vanity which makes him maintain that famous six-pack: ‘I have to keep relatively fit just to fit into the costumes. that’s the truth.’

But he reveals filming the sea scene last September ‘wasn’t pleasant’ because the water was ‘pretty cold’.

Speaking at a screening of series four, turner also addressed the rumours that he will be the next James Bond.

‘there’s somebody else playing the role isn’t there, so I always feel weird talking about it because it’s come up quite a lot in recent times’, he said. ‘When it’s free, I’ll look at it.’ Poldark will return for a fifth season, but turner has previously hinted that will be the final series.
