Choc horror...on the railway

- By James Salmon Transport Editor

A TRAIN company has been threatened with legal action after comparing its service to Poundland chocolate.

Thameslink, whose new timetable has caused major disruption, was responding to a tweet from an angry customer.

The passenger, named Kevin, had tweeted an image of a departures board showing cancellations and wrote: ‘Why, Ambassador @TLRailUK, with this fine service you are really spoiling us’, a reference to the famous Ferrero Rocher advert. Thameslink replied, saying the service was ‘less Ferrero Rocher and more Poundland cooking chocolate’.

But Poundland’s retail director Austin Cooke said Thameslink would hear from their ‘extremely twitchy legal team’ unless the tweet was removed. Thameslink deleted its original message and said it was ‘very sorry for using your name’.
