The singing spider has a yes from me!

-

As I settled down one evening In my saggy, old armchair, I thought I heard a tiny noise Coming from mid-air. I looked up and saw a spider In her web of silken thread She was playing the sweetest melody Using each one of her eight legs. She plucked her web and looked serene, I rubbed my eyes — could I be dreaming? Then she quietly said to me: ‘I’m amazed that you’re not screaming. ‘Most people don’t like spiders. I usually don’t get far Inside a house to spin my web Before they trap me in a jar. ‘If I could have a tasty fly For all the times I’ve been shown the door I wouldn’t have to build another web; I’d have a full fly store. ‘Folks are too busy shrieking To listen to my tunes. I write ballads, love songs, even rap, Would you like to hear me croon?’ The spider was amazing! Musically gifted and endearing. Her songs were sweet and melodious; I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. And that’s how we’ve got three yeses On the Britain’s Got Talent show. We would have had four, but Alesha hid, She has a spider-phobia, you know. But we hope to prove that music Can overcome prejudice and hate. So please vote for Stephanie the singing spider; I’m sure the Queen will think she’s great. Anita Bass, Theydon Bois, Essex.
