Catalans book semi spot
SIMON WOOLFORD’S first game in charge of Huddersfield ended with defeat as the Catalan Dragons secured a place in the Challenge Cup semi-finals. Australian Woolford had been instructing training sessions via Skype as he awaited his visa, and that seemed to be working with the Giants winning their last four games and moving into the play-off places. His arrival in West Yorkshire, though, had the reverse effect as Huddersfield trailed 4-0 at the break following two penalties from Josh Drinkwater. Leroy Cudjoe, returning after a nine-month lay-off, gave the
home side a brief lead, but Drinkwater had other ideas. The stand-off kicked two further penalties and converted tries from Greg Bird and David Mead to seal Catalans’ victory.
