DIGITALIS PURPUREA ‘PAM’S CHOICE’

-

JUNE is foxglove month. All over Britain, native Digitalis purpurea brings colour to woodland margins, hedgerows and verges. The spires of rose-purple flowers are beautiful, long-lasting and irresistible to bees. Wild foxgloves are lovely enough to be nurtured in any garden. But this is a variable species, some having flowers with freckled interiors. Others come in delicate pastel tones. Digitalis purpurea Pam’s Choice (pictured) is a lovely strain, with flowers whose throats are blotched with deep purple. A healthy plant grows to 1.5 metres high and will seed freely.
