FA reject call to pick diversity candidate
FA DIRECTORS have turned down a request for an extraordinary degree of positive discrimination in choosing schools football representatives.
the English Schools Football Association wrote to FA company secretary Richard McDermott asking for the next FA appointment on to the ESFA board to contribute to their diversity efforts. the letter asked that consideration be given to identifying a ‘suitable representative with specific expertise in disability and girls’ football and to seek FA support in finding a female or from an ethnic minority background’.
the FA National Game Board meeting this week noted the ESFA request, but agreed that ‘the best person should be appointed who has the necessary skills, experience and knowledge to protect the interests of the FA and its investment into schools football’.
