Sturgeon’s impossible EU plan
THE SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon, who met EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier last week, needs to do her homework. After the meeting, Sturgeon said that an independent Scotland in the EU would keep the pound and not join the euro. With apologies to Nigel Molesworth, as ‘any fule kno’ new countries joining the EU must comply with the 35 chapters of a candidate’s adoption, implementation and enforcement of all current EU rules. The euro is non-negotiable.
