Metal found in supermarkets’ pies and pasties

-

PASTIES, sausage rolls and pies sold by Tesco, Aldi and Nisa were urgently recalled yesterday amid fears they may contain pieces of metal wire.

The Food Standards Agency issued the warning for 59 products sold by the supermarkets under their own-brand labels and the Wall’s and Millers names.

It said that the items, with use-by dates ranging from June 4 to 12 and all produced by the Addo Food Group, ‘may contain small pieces of metal wire’.

The FSA listed the full range of products on its website, which included Aldi’s minced steak and onion slice and pack of ten snack pork sausage rolls, Nisa’s heritage beef pasty, Tesco’s Eastman’s Deli chicken and mushroom pie and sweet potato and goat’s cheese puff pastry lattice pie, and Millers cheese and bacon slice.

It added: ‘If you have bought any of the products, do not eat them.’

Aldi had six products on the list while Tesco was worst hit, with 22 products recalled.

Aldi told its customers in a Facebook post: ‘Please do not consume. Customers are asked to return them to the store, where a refund will be given.’
