Our baby’s first word? Alexa!

-

THE first word a baby uttered was not mummy or daddy but Alexa – after Amazon’s virtual assistant.

Joe Brady, who was one at the time, is thought to have picked up on his family issuing commands to voice-activated Alexa, which is built into Amazon’s £90 echo device.

His mother, Lottie Ledger, 21, from Gateshead, recalled: ‘He actually said Alexa before mum or dad. Alexa would say “Sorry, I didn’t get that” and Joe would laugh and laugh.’ Miss Ledger said Joe was now 18 months, and ‘doesn’t bother with Alexa any more’.
