I AM glad Jan Moir and Mariella Frostrup have not lost their sense of humour or proportion in the debate about people ogling each other. Women engage in a degree of harmless lasciviousness when their eyes behold hunky men such as Poldark or Mr Darcy.

Sexual attraction is instinctive, regardless of gender, and nothing to be ashamed of given that our carnal desires are evolutionary.

Political correctness, on the other hand, is a recent invention by those who have forgotten life can be fun.

Of course, I do not condone unwanted sexual attention or assault, but it’s not wrong to admire a handsome man or beautiful woman. How I wish I could be like Aidan Turner and have women ogle me! LYNDON HERRING,
