DEBBIE EAglEFIElD is closing in on a return to the grand finals of the Daily Mail Foursomes, after the Burtonon-Trent player and team-mate Anita Chamberlain won a tense play-off at Ashbourne to book a place in the fifth round. The six-handicapper, who reached the showpiece event at the Marriott St Pierre 18 years ago, would love a second shot at the title on the famous South Wales course after being ousted in the last 16 while representing her old club, The Craythorne. She said: ‘I want to get back there. I’m telling Anita this is real and what to expect if we get any further.’ Their Derbyshire rivals Sandra Maxwell and Anne Colwell won the last to take the match into extra time. But Chamberlain sank an eight-foot downhill putt to seal victory at the 19th. They are three matches from a place in the october showdown. Elsewhere, gillian Thomas and Christine Anthony of Bryn Meadows triumphed at home over Tanya nicholls and Dawn Davies from The Monmouthshire. After parring the last to win the hole and force a play-off, they settled the tie with a bogey at the 19th.
