Nurture British talent
THE Government is expected to lift an immigration cap on the number of non-EU doctors who can work in Britain (Mail).
It’s pointless having an immigration policy if we are going to abandon it as soon as the shoe pinches.
The whole aim is to provide more opportunities for those born in this country. In a well-governed society, talent is nurtured, not imported from abroad.
I do not think we need more doctors; what we do need are more technicians to operate medical equipment. It can take weeks to get a test or scan, which may last only half an hour.
Instead of people queuing up for machines, the machines should be waiting on the people.
