Shame on Tube attack cowards

Woman lashes out at ‘two white men’ who failed to protect her from 6ft thug

- Daily Mail Reporter

A TOP fashion stylist who was attacked by a 6ft thug on a busy Tube train yesterday criticised two men for leaving her to defend herself.

Tamara Cincik, 48, said she was kicked and threatened while travelling to a business meeting in central London.

The mother of one said children were crying as the man started attacking her in the middle of the carriage. And she singled out the two ‘white and middle-class’ men who moved to another carriage rather than intervene.

Recounting the incident, she said: ‘I got on the Tube at Highgate and I was going to Old Street. A man got on at Archway, he was about 6ft and around 30 to 35 years old and he started just screaming.

‘At first I thought he was some sort of performance artist, but then it became clear that he was not well. He was screaming and shouting at me and saying things like, “I am going to ****ing kick you” – then he did actually kick me. It was intimidating, he was a big guy and I am only size eight.’

The stylist stressed she does not blame her attacker, who she believes needs medical help, but said the incident was terrifying. ‘There were two men sitting in the carriage near me who looked as though they were in their fifties,’ she told the London Evening Standard.

‘At one point, the guy said, “These two aren’t going to help you, they are going to go into the next carriage and leave you,” and then that is exactly what happened. It was the strangest thing. When they walked out the guy shouting at me was laughing and said “Now you’re on your own”. It was a power trip for him.’

Miss Cincik told MailOnline: ‘Children were crying and women were crying, it was awful. I wasn’t crying, I was in shock.

‘I remain more angry with those white middle-class men who left me to it. As fathers, husbands and sons they should be ashamed of themselves.’

Miss Cincik praised those who came to her aid as ‘angels’, saying: ‘An Eastern European man who had seen the guy on the platform had worked his way down the train as he felt that man was dangerous and he got to me when the train stopped.’

She said her message to those who left her was: ‘You are cowards with less empathy and strength than two size 8 women and a Greek female pensioner. Shame on you. If you were so scared, that’s one thing, but one of you had a briefcase and could have helped me and both of you could have pulled the cord from the safety of the next carriage that you left me for.’ A British Transport Police spokesman said officers would be reviewing CCTV footage from the train.

He said: ‘We are currently investigating an assault on the Northern Line which happened at approximately 12.40pm to 12.50pm on Monday.

‘The incident is believed to have happened at Tufnell Park. We are conducting a number of inquiries at present.’
