Countdown Carol: I was paid triple Richard’s salary
CAROL Vorderman revealed yesterday how she was paid three times more on Countdown than her co-host Richard Whiteley.
She admitted the huge pay gap on the Channel 4 game show caused a row between her and Mr Whiteley, who died in 2005 aged 61.
During an interview on Irish radio station Today FM, she said: ‘The only heated debate Richard and I ever had was when he found out that I was being paid three times more than him.’
Miss Vorderman, 57, is said to have been paid £17,000 a day for 40 days filming a year.
Channel 4 said: ‘We do not comment on individual salaries.’
