Cinema clangers

-

ONE of the most glaring inaccuracies I have spotted in the film Dunkirk (Mail) is when a Royal Navy ship is struck by bombs from German aircraft. It turns on its side to reveal a spotless hull with no signs of use.

I was a marine engineer and have seen the underside of a fair few ships in dry dock.

This lack of attention to detail reminded me of my youth when I went to see a western at the local cinema and noticed vapour trails across the sky. Below were cowboys and Indians doing battle with rifles and bows and arrows.

What a shame, as I am sure one of the heritage railways would have been more than glad to offer the use of a historically correct carriage. BARRY SMALL, Sutton
