Damehood for leading physician
PROFESSOR Jane Dacre has been made a dame.
The president of the Royal College of Physicians was named a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for services to medicine and medical education.
She was elected president in 2014, becoming the third woman in the RCP’s history to hold the title.
The consultant physician and rheumatologist, who is 62, is also a former director of the UCL Medical School.
She has worked throughout her career to improve diversity in the workplace and is leading a review into the gender pay gap among doctors working in the UK.
