Spirit mugger couldn’t break

ONE victim of ‘wild west Britain’ this week was Polish-born Zofija Kaczan, 100, a Holocaust survivor.

She died in hospital after being brutally beaten and robbed of her handbag while walking to church. The assailant broke her neck.

Mrs Kaczan’s local priest, Father Sebastian Ludwin, recalled the moment she was brought by friends into the church after the attack, bloodied and bruised, to await an ambulance.

In her last days the devout Catholic prayed for forgiveness for her killer. He may have broken her body but no one could have broken the nobility of her faith.
