IMF deal for Argentina

ARGENTINA and the International Monetary Fund have agreed a three-year £37bn stand-by financing deal.

The arrangement is aimed at strengthening the South American country’s economy and fighting inflation, but the Argentinian government is facing criticism for turning to the IMF, as many blame its austerity policies for their worst economic crisis, in 2001.
