Henderson spurred by final agony

- By JACK GAUGHAN

JORDAN HENDERSON insists Liverpool’s Champions League agony will spur him on. Henderson (below) was given a 64-minute run-out for England against Costa Rica — his first action since defeat by Real Madrid. ‘I don’t think I’ll ever forget that,’ he said. ‘It will always be there because it hurts so much. ‘It can help, though. It is difficult to think like that straight after it, but it was good that I got some time with my family to switch off and refocus on the World Cup. You can learn from that experience and it can help you as a player to want to get there again. To keep striving and wanting more, to keep improving. ‘It is about getting out on the pitch again as quickly as possible. I feel in good form. I have felt in good form for a long time. I am going in the right direction. I will play wherever Gareth Southgate wants me to play — a more protective role or advanced.’
