A High Street bookmaker suspended betting after widespread speculation about the showbusiness power couple – who are worth £340million – getting a divorce. But Jo Milloy, a spokesman for Spice Girl-turned- designer Mrs Beckham, said it was ‘absolute nonsense’. And the former England football captain’s spokesman Simon Oliveira dubbed the claims and laughable’. with the media. next month. football team. separations. ‘embarrassing Mr Oliveira said the episode was a ‘weird one’ in the Beckhams’ relationship Elsewhere, a spokesman for the cou- ple was quoted as saying: ‘There is no statement due, no divorce, and a lot of Chinese whispers and fake social media news. This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time.’ The rumours were ‘a crock of s***’, he said. The couple – parents of Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper, six – are preparing to celebrate 19 years of marriage together They are known for constantly sharing Instagram pictures of themselves and their children and have become a powerful social media presence, with 65million followers between them. So much love. We love and miss you @davidbeckham.’ But despite this affectionate display, thousands of social media users shared claims that a divorce was imminent – with the rumours becoming one of the internet’s most discussed ‘trending topics’. It led bookmaker Paddy Power to announce: We’ve ‘ decided to suspend betting on the separation between Posh and Becks.’ However it was still offering odds on ‘the next Mrs Beckham’. The speculation comes more than a decade after their marriage faced a crisis in 2004, when Beckham’s former personal assistant Rebecca Loos claimed she had an affair with him while they were in Spain after his transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid. The Beckhams called her claims ‘ludicrous’ but later dropped a libel case against a newspaper that claimed their union was little more than a business arrangement. Last month at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Mrs Beckham was accused of looking glum and ‘miserable’ as she arrived with her husband. Observers claimed she cracked a smile only once all day. It was later suggested she might simply have been ‘fed up’ with Beckham for drinking the night before at the exclusive Soho Farmhouse members club in Oxfordshire. Socialite Kara Keble-White took a selfie with Beckham at the club, which is near the couple’s country pile, on the eve of the royal wedding. She later posted the picture on Instagram, captioned ‘thanks for the shots’. Sources close to the Beckham family insist that Mrs Beckham and some of the children were also present. The Beckhams’ marriage was reported to have become strained last summer, with Mrs Beckham taking exception to her husband spending time with glamorous female friends such as models Alexa Chung, 34, and Poppy Delevingne, 32. Beckham met Miss Delevingne when they both appeared in Guy Ritchie’s film King Arthur. The two of them were spotted coming out of a bar in Los Angeles in spring last year. Mrs Beckham did not attend the film’s premiere in May that year. The following month the couple were spotted apparently bickering during the Glastonbury festival, with Beckham seeming rather bleary-eyed. The couple were recently ranked 372nd on the Sunday Times Rich List after a gain of £40million since last year. They married in a lavish £500,000 ceremony at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland in July 1999, where they sat on golden thrones.
