Crowley needs stitches after Da Silva fight

JOCKeY raul da Silva has been banned for 21 days for violent conduct for hitting fellow rider Jim Crowley in the face in the Goodwood weighing room. Crowley suffered a cut and swollen lip which needed stitches after the incident following the first race of yesterday’s meeting. the pair rode in the seven-furlong handicap, in which Crowley’s mount, the Patrick Chamings-trained Charles Molson, and Medieval, trained by Paul Cole and ridden by da Silva (above), were unplaced. Crowley, the 2016 champion jockey, declined to comment after the incident and was able to ride in the last two races. Fellow jockeys Martin dwyer, John egan, Jack Mitchell, richard Kingscote, two valets, the clerk of the scales, the changing room doorman and the racecourse medical officer were interviewe­d as part of the inquiry, which did not conclude until after racing.
