Anderson will rest for six weeks to make India Tests
JIMMY ANDERSON faces six weeks out to rest his chronic shoulder injury ahead of what he considers a ‘ridiculous’ Test schedule against India. Anderson will take a complete break to undergo rehabilitation for the ongoing problem, but is confident he will play in all five Tests during a crammed six-week period from August 1. ‘My shoulder has been a problem for the last couple of years and it is just a question of managing it and looking after it as best I can,’ said Anderson during his commentary stint in Edinburgh for the BBC’s
Test Match Special yesterday. ‘The India schedule is ridiculous and will put a lot of stress on it so I just need to get in the gym and get it strong. It’s wear and tear but rehab makes it feel better,’ added Anderson, who will also miss two Lancashire Championship matches. The plan is for Anderson to return for the Roses match to warm up for a series in which England desperately need to be at full strength. Anderson has been in fine form in the past year, becoming the first English bowler to take 500 Test wickets.
