Take that! Fury at Gary’s plastic confetti

- By Tom Payne

GARY Barlow has been criticised by environmental campaigners for releasing tens of thousands of pieces of plastic confetti in a concert at the Eden Project.

The 47-year-old Take That star was attacked after a ‘flood’ of confetti was fired over 6,500 fans in the gardens of the Cornish attraction.

A spokesman for the group Cornwall Against Plastic said: ‘Take That, beautiful world!

‘Epic Gary Barlow blunder when the flood of plastic confetti rained upon the Eden Project.

‘As a global voice, Gary Barlow has a responsibility. Get a grip, Gary and use your talent in a more responsible manner.’

Tweeting yesterday about last Wednesday’s gig, Barlow said: ‘Apologies for firing our confetti cannons. We’ve cancelled all ticker tape at outdoor shows because the reality is it just turns into litter.’

The Eden Project, which has created artificial rainforests in huge bio-domes, did not respond to a request for comment.
