THE conclusion of this three-part series follows Year 11 students at different schools in the lead-up to their mock GCSEs, and provides an insight into the grievous impact the national teacher shortage is having on our children. At Erith School, the secondary modern in South-East London, Denisa (pictured) is aiming for A grades; if she can achieve her potential, she could get a coveted sixth form place at Townley Grammar, two miles down the road. But competition is fierce, and with no permanent science tutor to mentor her, Denisa is feeling the pressure.
