Brutal Tesla job cuts
ELON Musk has announced a brutal jobs cull at Tesla that could see up to 9pc of the workforce laid off.
The billionaire said his electric car company needed to remove unnecessary layers of management and become more efficient if it was to become profitable.
The US employs about 40,000. Musk said the cuts would not affect staff producing its flagship Model 3 sedans, as it scrambles to make 5,000 per week.
He told staff in an email: ‘Tesla has grown and evolved rapidly over the past several years, which has resulted in some duplication of roles.’
