Property boss’s pay hits £2.2m
The boss of British Land saw his pay jump 16pc to £2.2m last year.
Chris Grigg, who has been chief executive of the property developer since 2009, earned a basic salary of £840,000 which was topped up with bonuses of more than £1m as well as other perks.
British Land’s annual report also revealed that its male staff earn on average 39.4pc more than its women – with the gap widening to 66.8pc for bonus payments.
The figures will be embarrassing for Grigg, 58, who has spoken of the need to increase the number of women working in property. Just four of its 14 board members are women – including non-executive director Rebecca Worthington and company secretary Brona McKeown, who both joined in January.
