Is M&S offering great women’s clothing?

-

I AM tired of all the criticism of M&S, as if people are trying to will its demise. This summer, the colours and diversity of tops are eye catching. The ‘fashion icons’ seem to think bizarre, clashing designs are in style. The outfit worn by former Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman in her article (Mail) might be pricey, but looks frumpy. Please leave M&S alone.

FABULOUS article by Ms Shulman. Surely there must be an immediate offer for her to be appointed as overall adviser to M&S. I used to shop for tasteful, smart,

everyday business clothing at our local store and everyone bought their undies from M&S. Not now. I recall a report on a shareholders’ meeting where a lady said M&S clothing is rubbish. But this flagging company could, at this late stage, be saved. Listen to your customers — remember us? As we all age, fashion becomes more important. What an opportunity for M&S to lead the charge of keeping our High Street shops open and functioning.

I TAKE issue with the comments made by Alexandra Shulman. I have never before bought clothes at M&S, but did recently. The chinos, work trousers and blouses are inspired. Great clothing at reasonable prices. Thank you, M&S.

ALEXANDRA’S criticism was a bit over the top, given what she was wearing. She based her comments on one London store. She should visit Shoreham, a wonderful shop with a great layout. The mirrors are good. There are places for people to sit and the fitting rooms all have locks. I have been shopping at M&S for 50 years and I hope to for many more. It needs customers to ensure survival, so M&S should listen to what we have to say.
