Scratch of the day! Midges tackle stars
NOT only did England players take on Tunisia last night – they were also forced to fight off swarms of bugs.
Jesse Lingard, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold were among those seen swatting midges attracted by humid weather and the stadium’s location by the River Volga.
They used cans of insect repellent to cover themselves from head to toe.
Sky Sports News abandoned some interviews after presenter Kaveh Solhekol was attacked by the bugs, while a German TV reporter even filmed an item wearing a beekeeper’s hat.
England fan Patrick Vockins, 26, from the Isle of Wight, said: ‘God knows how much it will affect the players.’
