£20m Leno to join Arsenal

-

ARSENAL will seal a £20million swoop for Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno today. The 26-year-old has agreed a five-year deal with the club. Barring a last-minute hitch, the signing will be completed today. Although he missed out on a place in Germany’s World Cup squad, he has six caps for his country. New Gunners boss Unai Emery has earmarked Leno as Petr Cech’s long-term replacement. Napoli are interested in Cech, 36.

WOLVES have agreed a deal to sign Portugal international goalkeeper Rui Patricio on a free transfer. The 30-year-old signed a fouryear deal, with the move aided by his desire to cancel his contract at Sporting Lisbon after fans attacked the club’s training ground. Patricio is one of seven Sporting players, including William Carvalho, Gelson Martins, Rafael Leao and Bruno Fernandes, to cancel their own contracts in response to the training ground attack. Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho has opened legal proceedings against them. However, Wolves are confident their deal is legally sound. There is a chance that if the case goes to FIFA Wolves may have to pay a compensation fee.
