LICHTSTEINER SLAMS FALL-GUY NEYMAR

- IAN HERBERT

SWITZERLAND and Arsenal defender Stephan Lichtsteiner has accused Brazil’s Neymar of continually ‘falling down’ in Sunday’s 1-1 draw and winning free-kicks by diving. Lichtsteiner was substituted after being booked for a challenge on the 26-year-old and when asked if he had been concerned about getting a red, he said: ‘I was a bit worried about the referee. Every time they fell down it was a whistle, a foul. This was a bit of a challenge. You think, “Don’t be too aggressive” because every time they go down it’s a foul. For that I was a bit careful.’ Neymar (left) was fouled 10 times in the match — the most fouls on one player in the World Cup since 1998, when Tunisia fouled England striker Alan Shearer 11 times.
