Upskirting bill revived by PM
UPSKIRTING perverts could face up to two years in jail and be named on the sex offenders’ register, Theresa May said yesterday.
It comes after Tory MP Sir Christopher Chope single- handedly blocked a backbench bill calling to ban the practice.
The Prime Minister is now adopting the ban as a government bill. She said it would be debated today in the Commons, in an effort to make the practice a specific offence. She said upskirting was a ‘hideous invasion of privacy’ that left victims ‘feeling degraded and distressed’.
