‘I’m grade four piano and I’m very proud. I started when I was 40 but stopped and I’m about to start again,’ he tells me at a private screening of Unsung Heroines: The Lost World Of Female Composers at Soho House, which airs on BBC4 tomorrow. ‘ People who stop learning things at a certain age, their brains go downhill. I want to be doing something continually that makes me go: what is this?’
