Ready for bed! Shameless fox caught in f lat

- By Alison Smith-Squire

FROM the guilty look on its face, it’s clear that this fox knows it has been caught taking a liberty.

It was photographed in the act of snuggling down on Marion Owen’s duvet just as she was hoping for a lie-down on her own bed after a weekend away.

She believes the crafty animal sneaked in through the front door of her flat and headed straight for her bedroom as she brought her suitcases in from her car.

Mrs Owen, 64, an estate manager from St Albans, Hertfordshire, said: ‘I was about to unpack when out of the corner of my eye I saw something move in the bedroom.

‘To my amazement there was this large fox making itself at home on my bed. It was such a shock. I went to the door and shouted, “Get out of here you naughty fox!”

‘That made it jump off the bed but it was still prowling around the bedroom, peeking at me from behind the bedclothes.’

As the fox stared at her, the mother- of- one, a divorcee, realised it was too frightened to run past her to flee the room.

Hands shaking, she took a few photos of it, then ran out of her one-bedroom flat to the outside of her bedroom window.

‘I hammered on it loudly,’ said Mrs Owen. ‘The noise startled the fox enough for it to leave my bedroom. Even then, it simply sauntered out of the front door as if nothing had happened.’

It then went to sit in the flat’s communal gardens.

Although there have been reports of foxes attacking humans, the RSPCA says such attacks are extremely rare.

Mrs Owen, a grandmother- ofone, said: ‘I was shaken but I wasn’t too frightened because I’ve seen the fox so often around the flats.

‘While it was a shock to see it on my bed, I wouldn’t want to see it come to any harm.

‘I don’t know if it’s male or female but it often sits out in broad daylight and potters in the car park, sleeping under the vehicles. We have beautiful gardens and the fox also seems to love them.’
