Faded power

CHIeF Of Defence staff General sir nick Carter has said it is essential the uK remains a ‘tier 1 power’ with a navy capable of operating anywhere in the world.

But we have already lost that status. We have aircraft carriers with no aircraft, and destroyers that can’t operate in hot climates. so why don’t we admit we are no longer a tier 1 power and, quite frankly, we don’t want to be.

We cling on to our nuclear deterrent at astronomical cost, yet our health service is collapsing around us.

Let’s get our priorities straight and look after the citizens of the uK first. parading around the world stage pretending to be a superpower is an expensive vanity this country can no longer afford.
