At least England’s WAGs enjoyed the game!
HER husband prepared for the England match with a healthy diet, plenty of rest and rigorous training.
Rebekah Vardy prepared too – posing in an England cap, taking selfies with her England phone and spelling out her support... in Swarovski crystals.
Jamie Vardy’s biggest fan left no doubt of her allegiance when she watched from the stands as England were beaten by Belgium in their final group stage match.
The 36-year-old WAG sported her husband’s number 11 football shirt, with Vardy emblazoned on the back.
Mrs Vardy also had a custom-made England grey sweater tied around her waist in case it got chilly.
It featured a glittering number 11 on the back with a red love heart, and the official three lions badge on the front – all of which are believed to have been embroidered using Swarovski crystals.
Her phone too, which featured a St George cross and the name Vardy, was studded with glittering diamante.
Before the match she posted a picture of her unusual sweater as well as a similarly decorated England shirt with Mrs Vardy written on the back, and a white zip-up jumper.
It is understood that the clothing was decorated by American based company Bella Artistry.
The firm was started by Leah Miller, also known as The Diamond Duchess, who is married to a professional athlete and decided to create her own WAG wardrobe. ‘There was really nothing truly super fly for wives, kids, girlfriends, mothers or friends of Pro athletes to wear in support of their husbands’/ fathers’/boyfriends’/sons’ teams,’ she writes on her website.
‘So, I thought to myself, “There’s no
reason to just wish and wait for a designer to create a line of hip and un-corny clothes to wear when I can make my own overthe-top, other-girl-envying, rhinestone-blinging apparel”.’
Miss Miller uses Swarovski crystals to decorate her range, which has been worn by the partners of scores of American athletes. Prices for decorated T-shirts start at £22 but vary depending on the level of detail. Not everyone of the England team’s wives and girlfriends went for the blingtastic approach.
Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s girlfriend, Megan Davison, showed off a rather more low-key look.
She wore a simple England shirt with Pickford’s name on and his number 1.
