Weinstein charged with three more sex assaults

HARVEY Weinstein has been charged with sex crimes against a third woman in New York, and could now face life in prison.

The disgraced film producer has already been charged with assaults on two other women in 2013 and 2004.

He now faces one count of a criminal sexual act against a woman for an alleged incident in 2006. He was also accused of two counts of predatory sexual assault, which carries a minimum sentence of ten years and a maximum of life in prison.

The updated indictment was released by prosecutor­s in New York who hailed the ‘extraordin­ary courage’ of his alleged victims for speaking out.

They appealed for more women to come forward as

they continued to build their case against the 66-year-old.

District Attorney Cyrus Vance said: ‘If you are a survivor of the predatory abuse with which Mr Weinstein is charged, there is still time to pursue justice.’

The revised indictment states that he has now been accused of six serious sex crimes. He had already been charged with two counts of rape and one count of a criminal sexual act.

His alleged victims have not been named however one count of rape relates to allegedly forcing ex-actress Lucia Evans to perform a sex act in 2004.

Weinstein, who is on $1million bail, has claimed that all his encounters were consensual.

Responding to the latest accusation­s, his lawyer Benjamin Brafman said: ‘Mr Weinstein will enter a plea of not guilty. He maintains that all of these allegation­s are false and he expects to be fully vindicated.’
