Blind Stevie’s a little wonder

WHEN blind Stevie the Mallard duck came to Manor Farm, they knew he needed a friend to guide him round. ‘I chose a girl called Wanda,’ says Di, ‘because female ducks are louder than the boys and I believed he needed someone noisy to follow around.’ Stevie was found with big scabs over his eyes. ‘We didn’t know at first if he’d been attacked, if they were infected or even if he had eyes. He did — but he was blind.’ Now Wanda’s his guide duck.
