Thetford pair stay focused

- CARA SLOMAN

THETFORD’S Jessica Dixon and Shelly Pleasance are growing in confidence in the Daily Mail Foursomes, as they chase a place in the grand finals. They reached the sixth round of the world’s largest golf competition by beating Phon Green and Mary Gamble from Bawburgh 2&1 to move a step nearer October’s showdown at Marriott St Pierre. ‘It would be really good for the club and for Norfolk if we can get there,’ said Dixon, 22. The pair have played foursomes for the county and are one of the lowest-handicap sides left in the women’s tournament, with Dixon off two and Pleasance off three. They must negotiate two more rounds if they are to be one of the last 16 men’s and women’s pairs battling for the coveted trophies in Chepstow. Dixon added: ‘We feel confident. We’ve had some really difficult matches and won.’
