RAF bombers unwind ... by watching Love Island

-

RAF crew who have been bombing terror targets in Syria are watching Love Island between missions.

Pilots, navigators and officers are ‘addicted’ to the ITV2 show.

The fast jet crews from 903 Expeditionary Air Wing, which operate Typhoons and Tornados from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, are rooting for Megan Hanson to win.

But Corporal Collette Sanders, speaking as her Voyager tanker aircraft refuelled Typhoon jets over Iraq, said: ‘I want Jack [Fincham] and Dani [Dyer] to win because they seem like a genuine couple.’

Asked why she watches the show, the 28-year-old said: ‘You can switch off and watch it and enjoy it and you don’t have to think.

‘I tried to download the ITV app but it would not work so I’ve missed four episodes. I have a lot to catch up on so my boyfriend is not going to be happy. I am a bit gutted I’ve missed it.’

Squadron Leader Colin Bostrom, a navigator on GR4 Tornado jets, said: ‘Some of the guys have got addicted to Love Island.

‘Everyone on the night shift is glued to it.’ He said that included 10-15 pilots and other officers.

‘I’ve not been dragged into it, I’m on the wrong shift for Love Island. But I think most of the guys are following Megan [Barton Hanson].’
