Big day? He slept through it all!

- By Rebecca English Royal Correspondent

SAFE in the tender embrace of his mother, Prince Louis remained blissfully unaware of all around him as he was christened yesterday.

The 11-week- old son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge slept not only on the way in and out of the service but during the ceremony itself, conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Justin Welby, in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace. The archbishop even remarked on the sleeping babe, and Kate, chatting to him, could be heard describing her son as ‘very relaxed and peaceful’, before adding with a smile: ‘I hope he stays like this.’

The little prince was perfectly cherubic in the Honiton gown, a replica of the intricate lace and satin dress made for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter in 1841. It has been used by several recent royal babies including George and Charlotte.

Louis looked just as peaceful when he was introduced to the world seven hours after being born on St George’s Day, April 23, at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London.
