Pupils rebel against head of sex scandal school Radley

-

RADlEy College, the £38,332-a-year boarding school in Oxfordshire, hit the headlines after two married teachers were suspected of having an affair.

More controversy followed, as I revealed last year, when the popular married female teacher at the heart of the scandal first resigned but then changed her mind — asking to stay — and had to leave when her request was refused. Meanwhile her ex-lover remained in his post as Undermaster. Now it seems the boys have exacted their revenge.

Pupils leaving Radley College, whose alumni include comedian Peter Cook, paid a pilot to ‘buzz’ the endof-year ceremony last Friday in an act of rebellion against the headmaster, who has also initiated a number of unpopular changes.

Shortly after the leavers’ chapel service had concluded, but before boys and parents could tuck into their picnics, 47-year-old John Moule began giving a speech to parents and pupils only for attention to be diverted from

his oratory to a plane flying low overhead, pulling behind it a banner proclaiming: ‘Make Radley great again.’

It could have been even worse for Moule, who is officially known as the Warden. Most of the leavers, who had ‘chipped in a-fiver-a-head’ to raise £750 for the plane, had initially intended that the words on its banner should read ‘F*** Moule’, before opting for the Trump-like slogan.

Moule put some noses out of joint when he arrived from Bedford School in 2014, after which ‘some popular members of staff’ departed.

Two years later, Richard Jackson, a former Naval officer, is said to have discovered that his wife Theresa, the head of history, had been cheating on him with Richard Greed, a fellow history teacher and head of rugby.

The wronged husband then destroyed his love rival’s collection of expensive wines, which was stored in the school cellar.

He also reportedly took the last remaining bottle and delivered it to Greed’s doorstep, along with a brief note that is believed to have said simply: ‘You will need this.’

Radley College declined to comment on the latest insurrection.
