My son Alex was three when I took him to choose a card for my mum’s birthday. I stood him in front of the ‘Grandma’ cards and told him to pick one. He selected a card for a ‘Great Grandma’, but I told him that wasn’t an option because she wasn’t a Great Grandma. Alex turned to me, hands on hips, and announced in a very loud voice: ‘she is a great Grandma and I love her very much!’ — to the amusement of the other shoppers. Sally Jarrett, Northampton.
