10,000 ENGLAND FANS HEAD TO MOSCOW FOR CRUNCH TIE

- SAMI MOKBEL

ENGLAND are set to be roared on by as many as 10,000 fans as hordes of supporters descend on Moscow ahead of tomorrow night’s showdown against Croatia. Some fans are being quoted as much as £3,000, inclusive of tickets, flights and hotels, to attend England’s date with destiny at the Luzhniki Stadium. But that is not putting off punters who are desperate to watch Gareth Southgate side’s attempt to make history by becoming the first England side to reach a World Cup final since the triumphant 1966 team. At least 5,000

England fans have tickets for tomorrow’s match — but that number is set to double in the next 24 hours. A large number of tickets have been returned by supporters of nations who have already been knocked out of the tournament, with thousands now

available on general sale. A significant number of tickets are also available through online ticket companies. Category A tickets have been advertised for as much as £11,400. The cheaper tickets available through online ticket companies are priced at around £560. The influx of Englishmen into Moscow will come as a huge boost to Southgate’s side. Around 3,500 England fans were in Moscow and Samara for the knockout wins over Colombia and Sweden, respectively, but there will be significantly more in the Russian capital for the semi-final. And in a further boost to England, the locals who will attend the game are also expected to throw their weight behind Southgate’s men after Croatia star Domagoj Vida was filmed saying ‘Glory to Ukraine’ after his side’s quarter-final win over the hosts on Saturday. Vida has escaped FIFA sanctions for his comments, but given the tensions between Ukraine and Russia, the Croatia star’s remarks have sparked fury among Russians. And in response, Russians in the stadium tonight are likely to be rooting for England.
