IT’S T’S ENGLAND’S BIGGEST GAME FOR 28 YEARS... BUT WILL THEY DO IT?

-

JAMIE REDKNAPP ENGLAND WIN 2-1 KEY MAN: Harry Kane

Kane’s battle with Dejan Lovren will be where this game is won or lost. I think back to when Tottenham played Liverpool at Wembley and Harry destroyed him. Lovren got better as the season went on but that match will be fresh in his mind.

MARTIN KEOWN ENGLAND WIN 2-1 AFTER EXTRA TIME

KEY MEN: Jesse Lingard and Dele Alli Croatia struggled to beat Denmark or Russia in 120 minutes and England have more energy and quality in the final third. Lingard and Alli arriving late in the box to get on the end of chances could be crucial to England’s success.

CHRIS SUTTON ENGLAND WIN 2-1 KEY MAN: Raheem Sterling

Sterling’s movement will be key for England. His runs in behind can unsettle the Croatia back line. He has had to put up with plenty of criticism over his finishing ability but I’m backing him to come good with a decisive goal tonight.

PETER CROUCH ENGLAND WIN 2-0 KEY MAN: Harry Kane

I’m full of confidence that it’s coming home and, as much as I like Croatia, they are beatable. It should not come as a surprise to you that I am putting Harry Kane forward as the key man. Another goal to take him towards the Golden Boot would do nicely.

TERRY VENABLES ENGLAND WIN 2-1 KEY MAN: Harry Kane

We will be full of running with Harry Kane THE man. We must be clever and do it in spells. We know that Croatia will fight to the last, such is their passion and patriotism. But so will we. I am tempted to say we’ll score three but I’ll stick with two.

BRYAN ROBSON ENGLAND WIN 2-0 KEY MAN: Dele Alli

I expect Harry Kane and Harry Maguire to have an influence again but the key man for me will be Dele Alli. Now that he has got his goal his confidence will be up. His interplay and goal threat will make Croatia’s defence nervous and keep their midfield pinned back.

DAVID PLEAT ENGLAND WIN 3-1 KEY MAN: Dele Alli

With the end in sight, the game is likely to be more open and played at a quicker pace. The extra rest allied to the youth and the improvement of England, plus Gareth Southgate’s consistent selection, could — and hopefully should — mean we have the edge.

SIR CLIVE WOODWARD ENGLAND WIN 2-0 KEY MAN: Raheem Sterling

I’m backing Sterling to not only continue his under-rated work but to rediscover his scoring touch with England’s opening goal en route to a man-of-the-match display. Harry Kane will ghost in with a second after half-time to seal the deal.

NASSER HUSSAIN ENGLAND WIN 2-0 KEY MAN: Harry Kane

England’s most important task will be to keep one man quiet. After watching Croatia’s otherwise very average quarter-final against Russia, it’s clear that Luka Modric pulls all the strings in midfield. I think it’ll be a tight game, and I don’t want it to go to penalties, but I’m backing England.
