Blow to the wolf-whistle
IF WoLF-WHISTLING is deemed to be a hate crime (Mail), it makes me wonder why the fashion, beauty products and plastic surgery market is worth billions a year.
It’s a lot of expenditure if you don’t want to be noticed.
JOHN EVANS, Wokingham, Berks. INSTEAD of chief constables trying to be pathetically politically correct over wolf-whistles, wouldn’t it be better for them to concentrate their supposedly meagre resources on solving proper crimes such as burglaries and moped muggings?
M. J. LOCKE, Rainham, Kent. WoLF-WHISTLES are directed at
women as a measure of their appeal, style or beauty.
In which case, if a man decides not to whistle at a woman who falls short according to these criteria, will he, too, be regarded as having committed a hate crime?
I. P. BArrATT, Great Totham, Essex. HOW I miss wolf-whistles now I’m too old for it!
