Day Lily, 29, was outshone by her real Mamma Mia!
SHE stars in the sequel to hit film Mamma Mia!
So when Lily James appeared at its Swedish premiere, there was only one person she wanted to be photographed with – her mother.
The 29-year-old – who stars as a young Meryl Streep in the film – wore a strappy silver gown as her mother Ninette Thomson threatened to outshine her in a classic black cocktail dress.
The Downton Abbey actress complemented her dress with dangling white and silver earrings and a matching ring at the event in Stockholm on Wednesday, but otherwise kept her accessories to a minimum. Set ten years after the original, the new film follows Sophie – played by Amanda Seyfried – as she tries to run her mother Donna’s villa in Greece while pregnant as she finds out more about her past.
Miss James plays the young Donna and Miss Streep takes over as the character ages.
The original movie, featuring the music of Abba, is set on a Greek island. There, young brideto-be Sophie discovers that any one of three men – Bill, played by Stellan Skarsgard, Sam, played by Pierce Brosnan – or Harry played by Colin Firth - could be her father. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is released in the UK next Friday.
